The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog.
Scheduled to commence on October 13, 2025, this event aims to engage over 1 crore students from more than 1.5 lakh schools across India, fostering innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills among the youth.
Theme of the Buildathon
The Buildathon encourages students to develop prototypes and solutions around the following themes:
- Vocal for Local: Promoting local products and services.
- Atmanirbhar Bharat: Fostering self-reliance in various sectors.
- Swadeshi: Reviving indigenous practices and products.
- Samriddh Bharat: Contributing to a prosperous and sustainable India.
Eligibility Criteria
- Participants: Students from classes 6 to 12.
- Team Formation: Each team must consist of 3 to 5 students from the same school.
- Registration: Schools can register multiple teams.
- Special Focus: Schools from Aspirational Districts, Tribal Regions, Frontier Villages, and Remote Areas will receive special recognition
Important Dates
- Registration Period: September 23 – October 11, 2025.
- Preparatory Activities: October 11 – October 12, 2025.
- Live Buildathon Event: October 13, 2025.
- Submission of Entries: October 13 – October 31, 2025.
- Evaluation Period: November 1 – December 31, 2025.
- Announcement of Results: January 2026
How to Participate
- Team Formation: Students form teams of 3 to 5 members.
- Registration: Register the team on the official Buildathon portal: vbb.mic.gov.in.
- Theme Selection: Choose one of the four themes and identify a problem statement.
- Ideation & Prototyping: Develop innovative solutions or prototypes addressing the chosen problem.
- Video Submission: Create a 2–5 minute video explaining the problem, the solution, its functionality, and potential impact.
- Final Submission: Submit the video on the portal between October 13 and October 31, 2025.
Awards and Recognition
The Buildathon offers an awards pool of ₹1 Crore, distributed as follows:
- National Level: 10 winners.
- State Level: 100 winners.
- District Level: 1,000 winners.
Winners will receive mentorship, resources, and opportunities for corporate adoption to further develop their innovations.
